lousy lilith

6:25 p.m. - 2002-01-03

So I started off the new year by delving into my limited store of filial piety, sitting on the roof blowing bubbles, and having a recurrent dream (the one about the crazy knife-wielding automatonophiliac who never fails to run the Gorgons and I out of the paternal grandmother's house and into an Inuit carabou shrine) turn up again. Resolutions are currently dormant; maybe someday I'll write them down. September, or thereabouts...

I think we need to add a bloopers section onto the end of the one act play, and possibly into the album, such as it is. Lines are a little rusty for everyone, but still amusing. Examples, in no particular order:

JOFF: I am (attempts to bow and speak at the same time) I am... uh (bows again) Petruchio! Written to tame the shrew!

GRUMIO: (sobbing) Now I'm doomed... (falters) for sure? Or just doomed? Okay. (resumes) Now I'm doomed for sure! They'll throw the key away and lock me up!

JOSH: (grinning) Omigosh! They're going to throw me in there and eat me!

IVY: All hail Macbreath... er, Macbeth! (attempts to kneel and knocks heads with HOSTESS)

PROF: Now, Petruchio, when your wife bites you, you say ouch.

HOSTESS: Eye of newt and toe of frog, tongue of bat and...wing...of...dog..?

Then there were those times Hortensio and Lird ended up reading Ashing's part, which happens to be Juliet, and Mao voicing that burning question: "Why does Petruchio always end up looking like a gay rabbi-pirate?" And of course...

PUCK: Thou didst not merely lie!? (lapses into Jackie Chan mode) Thou told a big whopper!?

In short, we need work if we're performing next Friday. Hopefully, there won't be any snow days before then. Afterwards, fine, and a repeat of sophomore year would be nice, too. It snowed quite a bit then. They canceled midterms. Stuff was grand. True, they came up with five alternative schedules in case the same thing happened again, but still, there's hope. Till then, two hour delays will be just as welcome. If and only if it snows. This is a vitally important factor, seeing as one must have some snow in order to expect a snow day or delay. I think I'll go put my pajamas on inside-out and dance a samba. Better than scrawling out another TOK essay, anyway.

"What was God doing before he made the world?"

"Making Hell-- for people like you who ask questions like that."

Adieu.
