None of us has very much left as far as actual brains go. Graduation, thankfully, is approaching quickly. Till then, there's plenty to stay occupied with, such as, say, drama. The 'Speare Fest and opening night were both yesterday. The former went well, although the three groups I was signed up for were scheduled one right after the other, so that was rather interesting. Ah, ten-second costume changes... The musical was surprisingly good. There was the usual chaotic atmosphere backstage and in the greenroom. The bathroom, for whatever reason, remained relatively calm, meaning I actually had it all to myself at one point and was able to untangle a pair of stockings in peace for a little while. Enter Reno Sweeney, sobbing and swearing. There were talks and reassurances and the girl soon succeeded in recovering her usual poise. Thank heaven for compassionate understudies. Ah yes. Something notable: the audience actually started applauding in the midst of some of the numbers, so I can only assume that our tap dancing wasn't really all that off. This is more than I can say for the orchestra, but I won't go into that. "Take Me Back To Manhattan" was rather interesting. For most of the ensemble, it was only the second time they'd had a chance to dance using the canes, which resulted in a few awkward movements and one girl dropping hers. To her credit, she picked it up in character. I had relatively little trouble, though the person beside me accidentally knocked off my hat, in spite of the fact that it was velcroed to my head. But they still applauded. Quite a bit. Amazing, really. We might actually be doing well. And tonight we do it again. And the night after that. Here's hoping we can evoke a similar reaction. Adieu.
