Also went swimming in a very pretty lake, which was an experience all in itself. For one thing, though I'm not averse to water, I don't voluntarily make contact with it very often. For another, I never exactly learned how to swim. Medusa had me take lessons for a few days every summer, years ago, but all I was ever taught was how to tread water. Useless talent #873: ability to stay afloat for hours on end. I've tested this before. Though it might come in handy if I'm ever stranded in the middle of the ocean... Must keep that in mind. At any rate, I know enough to stay above the ripples and propel myself towards the sand. More or less, anyway. And so, I'm now returned to fair Verona, where Medusa has decided to take three weeks' worth of vacation time. This means I'm going to be spending a great deal of time barricaded behind library books. I can live with that, I think. I'll have to, seeing as I'm still jobless. Progress has been made, however. Except not really. I've received a couple offers-- they'll take me as long as I start working in late August. I leave for college on August twenty-first; therefore, this cannot be done. By the time late August rolls around, something else is going to have to be done. Adieu.
