Actually, she was nineteen when I took the picture. She's twenty now, having recently resurfaced after disappearing in May. People blinked and speculated for a bit, and now, several months later, Fleur's heard from her and it turns out she's married. Keene left school a month shy of graduation after finding out she was pregnant. Now she's living nearby, working to support a husband she doesn't love and the daughter she had not long ago. Reportedly, she has no regrets and seems the same as ever.

I don't quite believe it. She seems the type to wear her heart on her sleeve, and sometimes she does. Keene's resilient, but she's also excellent at concealing things. Most people don't expect that in someone so lighthearted. Insouciance is a virtue; friend, look to it.

So she didn't want to have a child out of wedlock. But. Why lace yourself into a lousy marriage?

It must have been tough news to take, to make her drop out of school. For a little while, absolutely no one knew where she was. Now her family wants her to leave the fellow.

She didn't have a job till she was nineteen. Fleur says she's holding up well now.
