treble good-bye

10:36 a.m. - 2002-02-02

I have mellowed somewhat, thanks to Grumio's party. Played silly party games, several interesting innovations occurred. Lucentio, Gilberte, and I, unsurprisingly, proved to be the most virtuous ones there. People casually drifted into couples and I played out my usual role of the asexual hussy, channeled Cruel Intentions, and had cake shoved in my face.

As for math, conclusions have been reached. I will, if the math department allows it, retake the midterm in the hope that I will do better than before, which is certainly possible. If the department will not allow this, and I suspect they won't, I will have to take Algebra III and Trig simultaneously. This requires the dropping of another class, or more specifically, the only class I can drop, the elective, the extra one, etc. Ivy's gonna be orch-less, it seems. I'll find out on Monday.

In other news, someone on the board left a nice review of one of my stories, which made me happy, and Medusa confessed to having read my college essays before sending them off, which did not. I turn to the Curmudgeon on those rare occasions when I'm brave enough to ask an actual human being to proofread something, and I know it bothers her a little that I don't ask her. The way I see it, the Curmudgeon is as skilled at the practice as any English prof and Medusa will just "straighten my room" and conveniently happen upon anything legible anyway.

I'll stem the tangent for now. Must go have a heart-to-heart talk with Renee.

Adieu.

Conversation between Mao and myself. We do so need lives, neh?

JuniperLethe: So Ken's still alive?
Veralidain: Pfft. Of course.
Veralidain: I'm not a praying mantis or anything, silly.
JuniperLethe: Just making sure all your pent-up scratching-and-biting-etc didn't do him harm...
JuniperLethe: I should hope not...
Veralidain: Just making that clear.
JuniperLethe: Oh, good. I was hoping I hadn't gone all this time without noticing you were a praying mantis because that'd be pretty awkward if you actually were and I don't want to offend you or anything by unconsciously dissing praying mantises in general. You know how it is. Thanks for clarifying.
Veralidain: Of course. :P
JuniperLethe: Finish Good Omens?
Veralidain: Yes. I loved it.
JuniperLethe: Joy! A convert!
JuniperLethe: Ahem.
JuniperLethe: Sorry, I don't know of anyone else around here who's read it.
Veralidain: I figured. It's sad. They should make it required reading in schools.
JuniperLethe: Nah...the parents would have a field day with all the religious content... to say nothing of the school board.
Veralidain: Doesn't matter; it can teach people to accept other views of the world.
JuniperLethe: Yeah, the underlying meaning is beneficial, but its not like anyone'll pay attention to the good side of the book... Now if we put Hamlet book covers on several copies of GO and then surreptitiously placed them in an English teacher's room....
Veralidain: Hm...
Veralidain: See what happens.
JuniperLethe: Ms. Comstock could analyze the sexual bits to her heart's content, if nothing else...
Veralidain: There aren't even many of those
JuniperLethe: Not really... but if you look at the GO genre on fanfiction.net, quite a few people think otherwise.
JuniperLethe: And Ms. Comstock'll find some anyway, because that's what she does.
Veralidain: There's a genre for it there?
JuniperLethe: Yes... mostly slash, though.
Veralidain: Pfft. I hate that. Not everyone is gay!
Veralidain: Though I could see Aziraphale...
JuniperLethe: "Gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide" rememeber?
JuniperLethe: I know what you mean, though... its gotten to be rather obnoxious.
Veralidain: Yep.
JuniperLethe: Now if someone slashed, say, Death and Famine instead of the main characters, that'd at least be original...
JuniperLethe: Er. But I digress....
Veralidain: I understand if there's something to back it up, but when there isn't, it's just stupid.
Veralidain: Actually, you just gave me a brilliant idea. Hm...
JuniperLethe: Oh dear...What idea is that?
Veralidain: You'll see...eventually.
JuniperLethe: Does it involve sheep?
Veralidain: Not as of yet.
Veralidain: But you'll see.
JuniperLethe: When? Where? Do tell, O praying mantis.
Veralidain: lol
Veralidain: At some point...ff.net....muahahahahahah
JuniperLethe: =) Ah.
JuniperLethe: I'll be on the lookout...
Veralidain: Ok then

Corruptive influence? Me?
